A day full of Ginga: Capoeira workshop & street roda with Mestre Tarubi in Stuttgart

Energy, music and Mandinga – a review

What a day! Our one-day intensive capoeira workshop, followed by a street roda , demonstrated the vibrant nature of the capoeira community in Stuttgart. The spotlight was on Mestre Tarubi from Paris and Professor Piolho from Paris, who brought the roda to life with precision, enthusiasm, and stage presence. For the participants from the region, it was a special opportunity to hone their skills and compete in an international environment.

Tomorrow: Technique, timing, temperament

The first training session was led by Professor Piolho . He began with a functional warm-up program: mobility, core stability, and flexibility exercises directly tailored to the ginga and the basic positions of capoeira. The technical section emphasized combative aspects and distance control—perfect for anyone learning or teaching capoeira in Stuttgart .

Lunch: Music makes the game

Mestre Tarubi 's music class took place in a very small room where everyone stood close together. This closeness created an intense energy that tangibly connected everyone. Berimbau, atabaque, and singing merged into a powerful experience that demonstrated how important music is to capoeira—especially for groups from Stuttgart .

Street Roda: Capoeira enlivens the square

In the late afternoon, the roda moved to the usually deserted Pariser Platz in Stuttgart. With berimbau, atabaque, and pandeiro, the square suddenly became lively and full of energy . The street roda drew people who stopped, clapped, and watched – a striking example of how capoeira enlivens public spaces. For all capoeiristas from Stuttgart, experiencing the roda on the street was inspiring.
