Capoeira in Stuttgart – Culture meets diversity
The Stuttgart Pride is one of the largest events in southern Germany and stands for tolerance, equality, and visibility. In keeping with the vibrant atmosphere of the weekend , Arte Nacional Capoeira Stuttgart presented the Afro-Brazilian martial art of capoeira in the heart of the city—independent of the official Pride program.
In the roda, combat, dance, music, and acrobatics merge into a unique experience. It was precisely this interplay that captivated hundreds of passersby, who spontaneously clapped along, filmed, and felt the energy of the capoeiristas.
Guests from Stuttgart, Reutlingen, Pforzheim, Ulm and Switzerland
A highlight was the diverse mix of participants: In addition to the Stuttgart group and Master Dedé, capoeiristas from Ulm, Pforzheim, and even Switzerland participated. These included Master Pernilono (Sempre Capoeira), Master Jerry (Ginga Mundo), Formado Saci (Capoeira Brasil), Instructor Mico (Etnias), and Instructor Moqueca (Novo Capoeira). This international collaboration made the street dance even more lively and demonstrated how capoeira connects people across borders. Also visiting was Master Nene (Ginga Brasil) from Sao Paulo.

Why Capoeira fits perfectly with the message of the Pride
Capoeira is more than just a movement—it's a symbol of respect, freedom, and community . Even though the roda wasn't an official Pride parade, it reflected many of the same values:
Everyone meets at eye level in the Roda
Origin, gender or orientation do not matter
Music and movement create a sense of togetherness
The group Arte Nacional Capoeira Stuttgart set a strong example for diversity and mutual appreciation.
Conclusion: A strong sign of diversity and joie de vivre
Arte Nacional Capoeira's street roda on the Pride weekend in Stuttgart was a resounding success. With drumming, singing, and spectacular movements, the group transformed the city center into a place of joy and encounter.
